Streetsense Mixtape: Spring Has Sprung
April 4, 2018
Each month, one of our team members puts together a mixtape of music they’re currently loving. Spring has sprung at Streetsense, and we’re jamming out to a few flowery beats curated by Account Coordinator, Blake Band. This upbeat collection of songs will help you kick start the season — whether the weather acts like it’s supposed to or not. Read on for a few of Blake’s highlights.
Sweater Beats + Kamau — Hey Ya: Kicking off this playlist is a fun take on an Outkast classic. The talented Kamau adds vocals to a modernized version of the beat that had everyone incorrectly shaking polaroids back in 2003.
Amy Winehouse — The Girl From Ipanema: Few tracks will have you dancing around your apartment on a sunny spring Sunday than Amy Winehouse’s rendition of the original Brazilian song by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto.
Quinn XCII – Bones / Make Time / Iron & Steel: A relative newcomer on the scene and a personal favorite, Quinn ’s already produced a plethora of catchy songs. We’ll be listening to his latest album, The Story of Us, all spring long.
O.A.R. — Love And Memories: This late-2000’s jam always brings a hint of nostalgia with it, especially to those who grew up in the DMV — the band went to my high school!
Childish Gambino — Retro: Because what can’t Donald Glover do?
