Streetsense Mixtape: Catch A Vibe
June 8, 2017
Each month, one of our team members puts together a mixtape of music they’re currently loving. This month, Project Director Natasha Flint is letting us in on her collection of crank-worthy vibes. Her criteria? Timeless tracks with a serious beat and strong vocals. So, plug in your headphones or roll down your windows, but whatever you do—turn up the volume.
Highlights From The Curator:
Superstarr Pt. Zero – K-OS: While this song is circa 2002, it still strikes a chord with me. It’s got great movement and pace—perfect for kick starting your morning.
I Don’t Mind – Take a Daytrip: Don’t feel like going out on a Friday? Put this song on and you’ll instantly be amped for the night ahead.
Bougie Party – Chloe x Halle: Let me introduce you to Beyonce’s protégés. Chloe and Halle are some of the best harmonizers out there, aren’t afraid to take risks, and pen brilliant lyrics.
Knife To The Heart – George Fitzgerald: A regular at our design project U Street Music Hall, I highly recommend catching one of his shows and giving his album a start-to-finish listen. It’s worth it.
How Far – Tei Shi: To all my fellow hardworking women, this song is for you. Tei Shi’s tour includes lots of stops in DC. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for her next local show!
Two Brothers – Hanni El Khatib: This designer turned rock-n-roller truly harnesses the power of storytelling. You can’t help but get caught up in the lyrics.
I Wanna Be Your Lover – Prince: Prince is bae. FOREVER.
